HRO NEWS UPDATE & THOUGHTS
Its been a crazy 48 hours, tons has happened
The recap -
HRO had its worst 48 hours since they released in a lot of areas. By far the lowest amount of sales volume ever, the worst discord and overall community sentiment has ever been, and even hro team sentiment and morale seemed very low. However it does seem to be reverse-trending after the initial "shock" of announcement and all it takes is a few pieces of good news and fun experiences to get back on track like we've seen many times before.
The initial pushback happened the other day when Hro released a road map for the year and revealed a reduced amount of drops for this upcoming season. Although it reduces reward boxes overall it also gives us time to focus on other things throughout the year, and more importantly not feel CRAMPED and overwhelmed like a majority of hro users have been feeling in the last two years with close together snapshots and releases that required a LOT of time energy and finances.
If HRO were to release a scan challenge event tomorrow, similar to their 'batman day' scan challenge but a bigger set with a hro tier chase for example, excitement would be resurged and engagement would be really high. With no scheduled drops for hybrid until July, were pretty much expecting some sort of celebration set, or surprise airdrop or scan challenge set to fill the gap. Lots of us have UNSCANNED mountains anticipating another event like batman day where hro airdrops us booster packs for scanning cards in.
Some of us have collected for years here and have experienced a lot of amazing collection rewards past the EOS utility and hro can really lean into that moving forward. We can hope that the team is making moves to grow in the right direction, although it might seem confusing in the moment
Since this is an unprecedented company, using brand new tech and being the only ones to, sending rewards and airdrops and uncut sheets etc to users because of the hybrid aspect, they'll have to adjust and alter things to make sure they work longterm and are sustainable. So early changes come with the territory as early users, adopters and pioneers in this space and in turn were going to feel a lot of those changes early on. If hro grows bigger than the 100 people they have today, it should be because they deliver a great trading card experience.
The community right now truly is 1% the size of what Metazoo was and that means its tiny, so a single marketing push like SDCC can double the size of the community or even 5x it 😅😂 hopefully this is the year we see 10k hro users so we can look forward to 100k. Right now its TINY, great tech great fun and MINISCULE -
so the potential is massive in all areas, will HRO execute the vision?
Great post! I can understand the negative sentiment behind the roadmap reveal, that the reward cards won’t give as much value as expected. I just don’t feel the solution is more drops, but…they should do something to bridge that gap. I’ve also been saying it a while, HRO has a huge scalability problem by using a leaderboard to generate the best rewards. Without addressing scalability (and price points, which is a barrier for mass adoption), they will struggle to gain the 1x/5x collectors at SDCC that they should be able to easily with that exposure.
hello Kobe. Great Post. interesting insights. keep it up. HRO will do well
